A major milestone

I went to Tricket Welding yesterday whilst they where finishing their structural welding work. The pictures and videos (links to be inserted within the next couple of days)  below does not show everything as the whole under side wasn’t stone chipped at the time I was there an filmed.   Work done by the guys at Tricket Welding includes:

  • Scraping and wire wheeling the under side of the body
  • Lifting out the engine
  • Fitting new:
  •       Cross Member
  •       Battery Tray
  •       RH Front Wing
  •       LH Front quarter panel
  •       RH+LH Inner, Middle and Outer Sills
  •       RH+LH Inner and Outer Wheel Arches
  •       RH+LH Inner and Outer Rear Quarter Panels
  •       Rear Outer Valance
  • Repairing, building new:
  •      RH+LH Front Chassis repairs
  •      LH upper part of Front Wing and section under front window and upper A-post
  •      RH+LH Front Floor plan repairs
  •      RH+LH New lower part of A-post
  •      RH+LH B-post repair
  •      RH+LH Rear Floor plan repairs towards Inner Wheel House
  •      Inner rear Valance repairs
  • Inspection of the whole body with the engine out and small repairs (like filling holes after stabilising bars and aftermarket equipment)
  • Stone chipping the underside of the car

Body work continues / Svetsarbetena fortsätter

The areas under the right hand front wing has been stone chip treated so the wing is now ready to go on. Same with the rear wheel arches and valance, inner and outer wheel arches and inner and outer valance finished, rust treated and stone chip treated. The plan is now to have all the structural repairs done by end of next week so that the car can go into the body shop to be stripped to bare metal and sprayed. Left now is the left hand front wing and the cross member plus some small areas of the floor.

Höger framskärm är nu klar att monteras, jag bestämde mig för att utöver rostskyddet behandla underredet med Stone-Chip. Bakpartiet är också klart nu, rostskyddat och Stone-Chip behandlat. Planen är nu att vara klar med svets arbetena i nästa vecka så att bilen kan  gå på lack.  Den ska då göras plåtren innan den lackas.  Kvar att göra nu är vänster framskärm, balken under kylaren och delar av golvet.

Scraping the under side / Skrapa undersidan

The Trickett guys have started scraping off the many lawyers of old wax under the car so that we can see how it looks.  With three guys working at the same time they get a lot done. No wonder the sill failed MOT, the rust is very visible from underneath. When the surface is scraped and wire brushed it looks quite nice. The patch on the last picture needs to be removed to see if something  has been hided underneath it.

Killarna på Trickett har startat med att skrapa av alla lager av gammal underedsmassa så vi kan se hur det ser ut under. Om det är rost dold. N¨år tre killar jobbar samtidigt så går det undan minsann. Om man titta på bilden på tröskeln från undersidan så är det inte konstigt att de slog ned på det på besiktningen. När underredet är skrapat och bostat med stålborste ser det riktigt prydligt ur. Om man tittar på den sista bilden blir man lite betänksam vad som kan vara dolt under den lappen som svetsats på rätt över en skarv mellan inre och ytter hjulhusen. Kan det vara rost som dolts under lappen. Sådana konstiga lagningar ska vi ta och titta under.
